Supported Investments

On 7 May 2013, the Cabinet of Ministers supported the draft decree prepared by the Ministry of Economics on granting a company income tax (CIT) allowance to JSC Olainfarm for the implementation of the investment project “Starting the production of new products and increase of exportability of JSC Olainfarm”. Within the project, JSC Olainfarm is planning to start the production of new products, all the while significantly altering a number of production processes and increasing the current production efficiency. Overall, within the framework of the investment project, JSC Olainfarm is planning to invest 32.66 million EUR (22.95 million LVL).

It is planned to carry out the investment project from 2013 until 2017. During this period, JSC Olainfarm will implement the following activities and perform the following initial long-term investments:

  1. Establishment of the Nitrofuran finished drug form unit (completed)

The aim of the activity is to establish a new Nitrofuran drug production unit, as a result of which, the manufacturing process of 4 current Nitrofuran group products will be fundamentally changed, as well as the development and introduction of one new product will be promoted.

The activity implementation period is 2013–2015.

  1. Modernisation and expansion of the raw material preparation block of the finished drug form unit.

The aim of the activity was to fundamentally alter the operating processes at the raw material preparation block of the finished drug form unit, by ensuring automation of the raw material sieving process and minimising the human factor impact on the production quality, as well as by increasing the production capacity of the raw material preparation block according to the increasing demand following the introduction of the new products.

The activity implementation period is 2014–2015.

  1. Modernisation of the ethacizin plant

The aim of the activity is to establish a completely new technological equipment scheme at the ethacizin plant to ensure increased production efficiency of active pharmaceutical ingredients, as well as to increase the plant production capacity according to the increasing demand following the introduction of the new products.

The activity implementation period is 2015–2016.

  1. Establishment of a new phenibut production scheme (completed)

The aim of the activity is to fully change the existing phenibut production scheme, by moving the production of a range of active pharmaceutical ingredients to this unit.

The activity implementation period is 2013–2014.

  1. Modernisation of the packaging process (completed)

The aim of the activity is to fundamentally change the process of packaging finished drug forms, by modernising the blister packaging equipment, as well as cardboard and group type packaging equipment.

The activity implementation period is 2014–2015.

  1. Modernisation of the phenibut intermediate unit (completed)

The aim of the activity is to modernise the phenibut intermediate manufacturing unit, by ensuring automation of the process and reducing the energy consumption costs, as well as by achieving a higher production capacity according to the planned introduction of new products.

The activity implementation period is 2014–2015.

  1. Modernisation of the mebicar production unit

The aim of the activity is to fully change the mebicar production scheme, by ensuring automation of the production process and reducing energy resource consumption, as well as investing in ensuring quality of the manufactured products.

The activity implementation period is 2014–2015.

  1. Modernisation and expansion of raw material and intermediate warehouses

The aim of the activity is to improve the storage conditions (microclimate) of raw materials and intermediates, as well as to expand the warehouse premises to meet the rising manufacturing demand after introducing the new products.

The activity implementation period is 2014–2015.

  1. Modernisation and expansion of finished product warehouses

The aim of the activity is to expand the storage premises of finished products to accommodate the increasing production amounts after introducing the new products.

The activity implementation period is 2014–2015.

  1. Modernisation of the quality control process

The aim of the activity is to modernise the quality control process, by ensuring additional possibilities of performing analyses, more accurate results, and reducing labour intensity.

The activity implementation period is 2013–2017.

  1. Modernisation of the production of chemical intermediates

The aim of the activity is to modernise the process of manufacturing chemical intermediates, by making it automatic, reducing energy consumption and improving the quality of chemical intermediates, as well as by maintaining conformity of staff rooms to the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice.

The activity implementation period is 2014–2016.

  1. Modernisation of equipment at the finished drug form unit

The aim of the activity is to modernise the granulation and tablet pressing process at the finished drug form unit.

The activity implementation period is the year 2015.

  1. Modernisation of the wastewater treatment system

The aim of the activity is to constructing new wastewater treatment facilities at the factory and to renew worn sewerage networks to ensure that the treatment of production wastewater is adequate for the increasing manufacturing volumes. Implementation of the activity will allow ensuring conformity of the factory operations to environmental requirements, as well as will reduce the wastewater treatment system costs.

The activity implementation period is 2015–2016.

  1. Modernisation of the cooling system

The aim of the activity is to modernise the cooling system of the company’s manufacturing process, by reducing energy losses and labour intensity of the process, as well as by reducing the risks of industrial accidents.

The activity implementation period is 2015–2016.

  1. Automation of the energy consumption recording system

The aim of the activity is to replace obsolete devices that record energy consumption with a centralised automated consumption recording system to enable the control of prime costs of production, monitoring of operations of systems of energy generation, processing and distribution and of quality of energy resources, as well as timely identification of technological problems of the manufacturing process.

The activity implementation period is 2016–2017.

  1. Modernisation of the water treatment system

The aim of the activity is to modernise the water treatment and supply system at the factory, by improving the quality of water used in the production process, as well as by curtailing the risks of accident and reducing the costs for repairs of the water supply network.

The activity implementation period is the year 2016.

  1. Heat-insulation of manufacturing blocks

The aim of activity is to reduce heat losses at the company’s buildings, where production takes place, by performing heat-insulation of the buildings. The activity implementation period is 2015–2017.
